Get Plumbing You Can Trust

Whether you are installing some new plumbing or replacing some existing plumbing your plumbing really is only as good as your plumber. Getting plumbing you can trust really isn't that difficult. Here are some great tips.

1. Hire a company that is licensed and insured, and that hires only licensed plumbers. 2. Feel free to conduct background checks and keep the workplace drug and alcohol free. 3. Always get references. The comments of the customers will tell you plenty. 4. Expect the plumber to arrive when scheduled, act and look professional. 5. Ask for identification to ensure that the plumber is who he says he/she is. 6. You should expect the plumber to have all the parts that will be needed to complete the job.

When you pick a professional plumber you know that he or she is trained to do the work. This means you are much more likely to be happy with the end result. After all it's their profession.

When a company is licensed you are assured that they have met all the requirements within the profession to become licensed. This includes testing. Pick a professional plumber who is trained to do the work right the first time. It increases your chance of being happy with the completed job and reduces the chance you will need the plumber to come back for rework.

If you have a plumbing emergency you will need someone right away. Don't be satisfied with an answering machine. You should get a person on the other end of the phone. Personally even in a non emergency I think this is a legitimate want.

When the plumber arrives if you are unsure it is the plumber and you are unsure about opening the door ask for identification. The plumber should be able to provide a badge, business card, or some type of identification. In our modern world you can never be too sure.

If you are given a written estimate for the work you need done you should expect that this would be honored for a specific length of time. 30 days is common. A plumber should be able to easily tell you what parts you'll need and make recommendations too.

In theory if the plumber has come out to do the quote when he arrives to do the job he should have all the parts that will be needed for the job. However occasionally it won't go that way and a part will need to be ordered. Unless there are extenuating circumstances such as something broke during the repair, this really isn't acceptable.

Never pay in advance. If it is a really large job you may have to pay a percentage of the bill but always hold back at least 50% until the job is complete. When you receive the invoice you should be walked through everything on that invoice and it should meet your satisfaction.

Plumbing you can trust doesn't have to be at all complicated. It's all in the plumber you choose.
